- A natural, absorbable, monofilament suture used for general soft tissue approximation and ligation where short to medium term wound support is required
Uses
- General Soft Tissue Approximation:
- Used for general closure of soft tissues
- Ophthalmic Procedures:
- Can be used in eye surgeries
- OB/Gyn & Urology:
- Commonly used in procedures involving the urinary or reproductive tracts
Features
- Material:
- Composed of purified connective tissue (mostly collagen) derived from the serosal layer of beef or submucosal fibrous layer of sheep intestines
- It is treated with chromic salts to increase resistance to absorption
- Absorbability:
- A natural absorbable suture. Degradation occurs through enzymatic processes
- It provides wound support for approximately 21 to 28 days and is absorbed within 90 days
- Structure:
- Monofilament (single strand) construction
- Color:
- Undyed (natural brown)
- Size:
- Size 3-0 suture material
- Needle:
- Features an SH-1 Taper Point needle, which is 22mm long and has a 1/2 circle shape
- Length:
- The suture strand is 27 inches (70cm) long
- Sterility:
- Provided as a sterile, single-use product
Benefits
- Natural Origin:
- Sourced from natural collagen, a material well-known in surgical applications
- Predictable Performance:
- Chromic processing provides a reliable and extended absorption time compared to plain gut sutures
- Good Handling Characteristics:
- The monofilament structure provides smooth passage through tissue, and surgeons familiar with gut suture techniques can use it effectively
- Aseptic Presentation:
- Each suture is sterile and individually packaged to minimize the risk of contamination and ensure patient safety
