- A bioceramic injectable root canal sealer used for permanent root canal filling and various repair procedures in dentistry
- It is premixed, highly biocompatible, and promotes the formation of hard tissue, leading to effective healing and reduced postoperative discomfort
Uses
- Permanent root canal obturation:
- It is primarily used to completely seal the root canal system, including accessory and lateral canals, in permanent teeth
- Root perforation repair:
- It is effective for repairing communications between the pulp space and external root structure, whether due to resorption or iatrogenic errors
- Pulp capping and revascularization:
- It can be applied directly to exposed pulp in procedures like apexogenesis to maintain pulp vitality and promote continued root development
- Apexification:
- For immature teeth with necrotic pulp, it facilitates the formation of a calcific apical barrier, often in a single appointment
- Primary teeth applications:
- In deciduous teeth, it can be used alone (without a gutta-percha cone) as it is naturally absorbed as the root resorbs
Features
- Premixed and injectable:
- The sealer comes in a pre-loaded syringe, eliminating the need for powder/liquid mixing and allowing for direct application into the canal
- Bioceramic and MTA-based:
- It is a paste-type sealer based on pozzolan cement, which provides the excellent physical and biological properties of Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA)
- Fast setting time:
- It has a fast and predictable setting time, typically within 10-12 minutes when in contact with the moisture in the dentinal tubules and surrounding tissues
- Outstanding flowability:
- Its high flowability and maneuverability allow it to completely fill complex root canal systems and irregularities
- Eugenol-free:
- The formula is eugenol-free, which means it will not impede the adhesion of subsequent restorative materials
- High radiopacity:
- It has a high radiopacity (7.5 mm Al or 10.5 mm Al depending on the specific product variant, according to different sources) for easy visualization and evaluation on radiographs
- Retrievable:
- The material can be easily retrieved with NiTi files even after solidification if needed for retreatment.
Benefits
- High biocompatibility:
- It is well-tolerated by surrounding tissues, which minimizes patient post-operative pain and inflammation
- Promotes hard tissue formation:
- It induces the regeneration of surrounding damaged hard tissue by producing calcium hydroxide during setting and creating hydroxyapatite extensively, which leads to rapid healing of periapical lesions
- Excellent sealing ability:
- It provides a hermetic apical seal and superior dimensional stability, with slight expansion during setting to prevent microleakage, which is crucial for long-term treatment success
- Strong antibacterial effects:
- The high pH of the material creates an alkaline environment that exhibits strong antibacterial properties, especially against E. faecalis, a common bacterium in failed endodontic treatments
- Ease of use:
- The premixed, injectable nature simplifies the obturation procedure, saving clinical time and improving appointment efficiency
