- These anatomically carved wood wedges are used to adapt matrix bands to the tooth during restorative procedures
Uses
- Contouring restorations:
- Wedges are placed interproximally to secure the matrix band and create the proper anatomical contour of the final restoration
- Preventing overhangs:
- By pressing the matrix band tightly against the tooth's gingival margin, the wedge prevents restorative material from flowing out, thus avoiding excess material or overhangs
- Achieving proper contact points:
- The wedge provides slight separation between the teeth to compensate for the thickness of the matrix band. After the wedge is removed, the teeth move back to their original position, ensuring a tight and proper contact point
- Class II restorations:
- These wedges are particularly useful in Class II restorations, which involve the interproximal surfaces of posterior teeth
Features
- Anatomically carved:
- The wedges are anatomically shaped to adapt correctly to the tooth's anatomy and the curvature of the matrix band
- High-quality sycamore wood:
- The wedges are made from sycamore wood, which is strong, slightly compressible, and will not splinter, even in thin sections
- Rounded tip:
- The tip is rounded for safe and easy insertion past the gingiva
- Square end:
- The square end provides a surface for easy grip and removal with forceps
- Thin size (13):
- The 13 stands for 13mm long
- This size is color-coded yellow for easy identification
