- A dental curette used for scaling and root planing procedures
Uses
- Supra- and subgingival scaling:
- This is the removal of moderate to heavy plaque and calculus (tartar) deposits from above and below the gumline
- Root planing:
- This procedure involves smoothing the root surfaces of teeth to remove embedded calculus and cementum, managing periodontal disease
- Universal application:
- The curette can be used on all surfaces of the anterior teeth, and on the buccal and lingual surfaces of posterior teeth
Features
- Barnhart 5/6 Tip:
- Designed with dual cutting edges on each working tip, allowing for scaling in all quadrants of the mouth
- Rounded toe
- The toe of the tip is rounded which allows the clinician to use the very tip to clean in tight areas, such as the lingual fossae of anterior teeth
- Blade-to-shank angle:
- The blade face is set at a 90-degree angle to the terminal shank
- Ergonomic Handle:
- Features a lightweight (approximately 16g) polymer handle with medical-grade silicone cushion grips, designed to reduce hand and wrist fatigue and improve tactile sensitivity
- SmartSharp Technology:
- Manufactured with a proprietary process to ensure a well-defined edge that is easier to re-sharpen, allowing clinicians to apply less pressure and use fewer strokes
- Durable Edges:
- The instrument features a heat-treated, cryo-hardened stainless steel process that ensures edges stay sharp longer
- Autoclavable:
- The entire instrument is fully sterilizable for clinical use
